On behalf of Kristis Klimbers Foundation and its Board of Directors, I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all of our supporters this year.
We are an all volunteer 501c3 and have been able to support our cancer community and others in need of support thanks to an outpouring of support from individual and corporate sponsors.
Our mission is to advocate for early detection of all cancers and provide recovery wear items to cancer survivors and patients to allow them to lead active and healthy lives. We also provide financial and other resource support to cancer survivors.
We have supported over 200 mammograms for uninsured and underinsured women since we were founded in early 2021 through onsite mammography events and other mammography partners. A majority of our referrals come from community health clinics and obgyn clinics.
Nearly 300,000 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in the U.S in 2023, but when caught early 95% of women will thrive and survive at least five years, and reduce their chance of a breast cancer recurrence.
We know women without insurance are 60% more likely to be diagnosed with a later stage of cancer.
We kicked off 2023 by making dinner for family members who were staying at Ronald Mcdonald House in Phoenix, and were humbled by how appreciative they were of our support while dealing with children going through extensive cancer treatments and other life threatening illnesses.
We were thrilled to partner with A Permanent Voice, a non profit that helps marginalized youth, seniors, and families in underserved areas in south Phoenix, during their first annual breast cancer awareness and domestic violence event by discussing our ongoing free mammogram program for uninsured women, and by providing information on how the uninsured can sign up for low cost and free health insurance.
We also know none of our great work can happen without the support of our all volunteer Board of Directors and Officers, and our event and social media volunteers.
In 2024, we will continue to honor our mission of supporting the needs of the cancer community by funding mammograms for the uninsured and providing other critical support to the cancer community.
