On behalf of Kristis Klimbers Foundation and its Board of Directors, we would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all of our corporate and individual supporters this year.
Our mission is to advocate for early detection of all cancers and provide recovery wear items to cancer survivors and patients to allow them to lead active and healthy lives. We also provide financial and other resource support to cancer survivors.
Since we started funding free mammograms for uninsured women in early 2021, we have helped provide over 100 3D mammograms for women in need via our partnership with community health centers who refer their uninsured patients to us who are in need of a mammogram, and via our yearly onsite mammography event for insured and uninsured women. This annual event draws women in need of a mammogram from all over the Valley.
Last summer, we held our annual “Summer Splash” mastectomy swimsuit giveaway for breast cancer survivors, and in the Fall, we held our free mastectomy bra giveaway to breast cancer patients. Over 60 breast cancer survivors benefited from these programs.
Although we primarily support the cancer community in Arizona, we were thrilled to support the mastectomy unit at the Health First in Brevard County, FL thanks to a generous donation from the Cocoa Beach FL Nine Hole Ladies Golf League who provided their donation in memory of our Kristis Klimbers consultant and family member, Tom Grotelueschen, who passed away in March.
We have also supported community partners who support children going through cancer treatments and other life threatening conditions and their families including Ronald McDonald Charities in Phoenix. We recently provided 20 families gift cards to purchase food and clothing during their stay at Ronald McDonald houses.
We also know none of our great work can happen without the support of our all volunteer Board of Directors and Officers, and our event and social media volunteers.
In 2023, we will continue to honor our mission of supporting the needs of the cancer community.
